Graffiti

Is graffiti consider an art? For me, i think graffiti is an art work without publish. Sometime graffiti can be very nice and it may become somethings that can make the appearance of the city look nice. However, not all of the graffiti are like by people, some of the graffiti are annoying but it depends. Some people think that the idea of graffiti is mostly negative and offensive. Most people will ignore it and state that graffiti is a negative action.

The reason why i think graffiti can be categorize as art because graffiti is a drawing and it is also a painting, just the difference is graffiti i draw on walls. The artist is expressing his / her idea through graffiti. If we analyse their work carefully, you can found out that a lot of design element i being apply in their work. Actually the ancient artist, they are also draw on walls. In ancient country, they will draw some drawing on the to decorate their house. It is to show the wealthiness they have.

The popular 3D drawing was actually consider graffiti because it was draw on the  public places like roads and also wall.

3D graffiti is more interesting compare the normal graffiti because 3D look real and it give illusion to the audience.

Since i was young, i like to collect wine bottle. I like it because it is made of glass, it have the crystal like looking and it is transparent. Furthermore, it also have an elegant shape and it is fragile and need to handler with care. It seem similar to my personality, i have secret because i share everything with friends and family just like the bottle is transparent, i wish to have attention form others and i'm scared to get hurt  just like the the bottle need to be handler with care.

Other than that, the purpose kept wine bottle because i wanted too reuse the bottle. I wish to do something interesting using the bottle. I"ll draw , paint or paste something on it to make it look more interesting. After the finishing i like to give it to my friends as a present. For those bottle which limited edition, i will keep as a collection.

The example of bottle sizes.

These are the example painted bottle done by others.

I wish to do something that similar like the one above. I wish to create my own ways in create my style to my bottles.

The arcylic painting!

Illustration-Duo

Above is 1 of my favorite image, it is an illustration graphic.I found this image in one of the Facebook page called YooLai Studio.I like this page because i can find many types of illustration collection in this page. Above image have become 1 of  my favorite image because i like the way the artist illustrate the human figure is not in reality form, the colour that apply is soft and clam and the main thing that I like the most is the cursive lines especial  it is very soft and smooth, it give me clam mood everytime I look at. It somehow help me to release stress when i look at it. It have become my wallpaper so that everytime when I do assignment i won't be so stress.

Since i like this image a lot, during the holidays i decided to paint an art mini canvas using this technique. I choose to use acrylic instead of illustration because i'm not good in using computerize

At 1st i wish to draw tin lines but it end up in tick lines because the brush i use i not tin enough to produce the fine lines.
I enjoy the process when i paint this painting. It really need patience to paint this art work, it take me a day to  finished it. I like it so much although it is not perfectly done.

The monorail~ @@

Last week I went to Berjaya time square by using public transport. At 1st I took a bus to KL central then I walk a short distance to take monorail. The monorail was full of people, the people inside were fully occupied every single space of the monorail.
For me, I feel that it really not convenience because it is hard to get myself into the monorail, people are pushing each others to get in the monorail. It was a very dangerous action to do so because people might themselves get hurt. Furthermore, many cases have happened that the monorail having problem rapidly. This matter will bring a lot of inconvenience to the passenger.
I think that the government should take this caution and take immediate action to solve this problem.

The 1st thing that needs to improve the schedule more often so that people in in urgent will not need to wait for so long for the monorail to arrive. Second is to assure the safety by putting the warning sign in an obvious place so that everyone can see. It may be put to some example of effects if people ignore the safety guidelines.

The ancient art

Hall of bulls

This is the ancient art , The Halls of Bulls. After some research, the purpose that the artist draw this artwork is to do record of what they have seen during the day. But some of the researcher said that it is draw because of virtual purposes. They mention that the artist draw many of this animals is to replace their soul after they have killed the animals. Another version for it is, these animals are drawn on the wall is to pray for god to get a lot of animals during the day they go hunting.
However, most of the researcher calm that this animals is draw base on difference seasons because the drawing is draw in difference period and it is overlay. The animals in the art are the species which can find during that period in Europe. They analyses that only animals are found and no human being in the painting because each animal’s species represents a very specific period of the calendar. Horses represent the end of the winter and the beginning of spring; Aurochs represent summer and Stags represent autumn. Example, Aurochs were active in mating during summer, so they drew it. The two bulls that draw facing each other don’t have any meaning because they were painted by different painters at different periods of time. The painters may do not have any concern for the first painting.

learnt a lot of design elements after I have do research on this artwork which is a History of Art and Design's assignment.

Ipoh Heritage

Last Saturday I was at my home town, IPOH. I was there because I need to take some photos for photography assignment purpose. I decided to capture the heritage of IPOH because i really like the old buildings and the structure , the architecture design using abstract, column, geometry shape. These are the elements just like the theory that i learn in History of art.It really a amazing when i know that a simple shape line and column can create such beautiful structure. It bring a lots of idea and knowledge when I looking at this structure. I was impress with the architect who design this building.

This was 1 of the photo that i took during my little photography trip in ipoh town.

This is the side view of the building.
Above is a very old building that i found in IPOH town. This structure are design using repeat of column, lines and rectangle shape. i like the way which it is just a simple elements but it can created a nice building and it also eye catching.

This building is actually an old  restaurant since 1906 Dong Hua 东华. But the building it now is no long being use for business or any purpose. The building is now empty.

But I'm glad that this building was not being destroy although it doesn't have any usage purpose.I think that the government have listed this building as the protected building. It have being repaint and this have increase the appearance of the town.

If the world don't have colors....

What if the world we know is in black and white colors only? What if we can only see everything in grey tone? It's really a disaster for me if i don't see colors anymore in my life. I like colors a lot, especially those colorful paintings. People draw to express their feelings and mood, like they are describing their life and yet color is used as a medium to help make their life more meaningful.

Without colors, we will be living in a world full of sorrow. There won't be happiness and harmony around us.
I felt thankful to God as he has such power to create such a beautiful gift for us, human. Everything has its respective colors to represent themselves individually.

Sorrow

Happiness

Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke, i like this anime a lot because it had a lot of surprising scenes. This anime is from Studio Ghibli ; it is a 1997 epic Japanese animated historical fantasy feature film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. 1 of the scene which i like the most is when the Boar god become evil, his body has many jelly-fluid-like black vines around. The black vines will make him unconscious and will take control over his mind.

The 1st time  i saw this scene, i get shocked because i have never see such "geli"(disgusting) scene. I had watched a lot of Hayao Miyazaki's animes, i like the way he creates his story with bizarre animations.

Since Malaysia have a lot of good animator, i wish that Malaysia can also create such amazing movie like this with full of cultural and traditional in it.

Emptiness

I saw a senior of mine post a video that talks about concept of designing. The author is Kenya Hara, he is a Japanese. His is discussing his book "Designing Design" in that video. His concept in "Designing Design" is emptiness, if there is an emptiness, it will be fill with GOD. It was the old theory of Japaneses culture.

Why he uses the theory of emptiness? He said that, questioning is creating an emptiness, when an emptiness was being create, something will fill into the emptiness. Therefore thinking is an important element in filling that emptiness. The deeper u think, the more you fill the emptiness. The deeper u sink your hand into the water, the more water will gain. Other then that, base on my understanding of his theory, he also mention that, if there is an emptiness only things can be filled into it. Which mean, if there is an emptiness, new idea can be fill in.

Designing is to something visually communicate, therefore if someone i sending a message, the other have to receive it. The emptiness is to receive the message. Kenya Hara have a very deep theory about his emptiness concept. The emptiness have a lot of function in designing, leaving a space in an layout is also a part of emptiness. Space is an emptiness.

In my opinion, emptiness can be something easy or it also can be something that is hard to achieve. To create a emptiness in design is easy. For me, to force ourselves to empty our mind and heart is difficult. Sometime is hard to erase what had already set in our mind, that is why new idea is hard to generate, this is because we already fix some rules in mind and it have become a threat to our creativity. We should give ourselves some space in thinking, so that our brain have space to generate, it won't be stuck.

Rubbish can be beautiful~

I saw some interesting contemporary sculptures today when i was doing my research. It was so artistic and creative, the artwork was fantastic, i really wish that Malaysia have this kind of nice structure. Maybe our assignment can be something like this since our campus is creative industry. Everyone knows that creating this kind of big sculpture is costly and it also time consuming, no body is willing to pay for it nor to make it.

But for me, i don't think so. Just like i said, art colleges or universities can assign students to create this kind of sculptures or maybe organize  it as a competition. Through this activity, we can seek the creativity potential in students. For the material to do the sculpture, i think reuse the unwanted item is the best way to solve the the cost problem. In this way, students not only can save money or maybe no need to pay at all for the material. Furthermore, reuse the unwanted item can avoid more rubbish is being throw away. It is always better to reuse the rubbish to make it become something useful and beautiful.

These are made by all kind of unwanted item, it's colorful.

This made by recycle tires, it's cool~

Made by magazine, cute.

Made by recycle bottles, simple nice >.<

Made by unwanted steel from vehicles / machine.

I like this the most, the "Sound Wave"

I'm one of them

Yup, i'm a ex-member of marching band in secondary school level, my school band is not as good as western country but still we get a silver medal in Asia. Above is one of the best DCI Marching Band that i admire, Blue Devils, Concord from California.

Marching band is a sport in which a group of instrumental musicians generally perform outdoors and incorporate some type of marching (and possibly onto other movements) with their musical performance. Instrumentation typically includes brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments. Most marching bands use some kind of uniform (often of a military style) that include the school or organization.

Since i have join marching band, i understand and experience how hard a band should be to develop and become top band in a competition. During my time, my school band takes few month to practice/ prepare for a competition, a formation competition which mean player have to march and play while performing. As the competition is near by , the more we practice. During holidays, others student may have their own fun time, but for us , we need to stand under the hot sun for several hours just to make sure everything is perfect in formation.

It is a very hard task for me when I 1st join the team for competition. I have to remember the step where i need to move together with the music i play , sometime i may forget the next place that i should be, it is dangerous to others member because if i move backward to a wrong way, i may bang into someone with heavy instrument like Tuba. Practice make perfect, after few months of training, it have become something easy to me. Sometime my leg will unconsciously lead me to the way during practice. It was something amazing that some else may not have the chance to experience it.

Be a marching band member, we need to be physical and mentally strong. Exercise is an important element to maintain our stamina so that we can produce high quality of sound during the performance.

What is important in a marching band is the spirit of team work because every single player form the shape of a formation and every sound that played by the player is important to strengthen the sound to impress the audience. A member did wrong, he/she may ruin the whole performance.
Slogan for the band~~ Together We are One!!!! One band, One sound!!!! One band, One heart!!!
These are the slogans which marching bands like to use because it represent united.

Anyway, I'm proud of being a marching band member (ex-member) although i get sunburn and no longer have fair skin. But i got a chance to wear the very cool~~ uniform. ^~^v

Other then that, through marching band i realize that we can train our brain to do multiple task just like they do. They have make the music connected to their body!!! Nothing is impossible, effort and patient are the elements we need.

Sometime i wish to change role with others so that i can experience their role, especially color guard (dancer with flag).

A color guard with double flag.

BIOMORPHIC !!!!

"Casa Mila" Building, by Antonio Gaudi
The image above is an example of Biomorphic Architecture in Barcelona. This building was design by Antonio Gaudi  and the theme for this fantastic structure is "under water". This structure have presented the natural motion of water beautifully.

I learn (biomorphic) this word during creative communication design lecturer class and it was told by Ms.How. I was very appreciate that she share this to us, it was really something new to know & learn of.

I have seen some of these structure before but i didn't know that these structures are called Biomorphic Architecture. I like this kind of of structure because of its unique design. It was an brilliant idea that using biology in designing building by modifying natural element like bee's have, tree roots....and their organic composition to apply in a building.

As i know, biomorphic not only apply in architecture but also in industry design too. More and more designer are using this biomorphic theory in their design. The field of Biomorphic are large and deep, researcher are studying every organic element on earth to came out more ideas.

This is another Biomorphic Architecture building, its look like a bee's have to me and it look futuristic too.

This maybe can be an inspiration of Biomorphic Architecture's element in designing a building.

Can find any Biomorphic Architecture in Malaysia??

Maybe the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur are the one......who knows??  @_@
Idea from modifying the maize corn.....maize corn ,something that Malaysia rich of, hahaha~~
But,no doubt it is a beautiful & successful building indeed.

Couple & Purse

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=357845017588462&set=a.357844717588492.81990.293119890727642&type=3&theater

I saw this art work through a page call CELEBRATION in my Facebook which i like to visit often. This art work was produce by Vladimir Kush. I was attracted to this art work because i like the way he create this art piece by combining human ( a kissing couple) with the red purse that fill with gold coins. This creative and unusual combination lead me to some question and i was curious about it. I would say that, the artist successfully grab my attention on his art piece.

The 1st question appear in my mind is the purpose of combining the couple with the purse? 2nd, why the purse is in red ? 3rd, the meaning of those gold coin that fill inside the purse?

In my opinion, i think of these:
Red colour represent love. Gold coin represent gain and sacrifices in love(value). Purpose of combining the couple & the purse is, the purse act as a place where the couple's "love" store.

General idea , the combination of kissing couple with red purse that fill with money represent the value of love which means how much they gain and sacrifice when they love each others. Love is just like the purse, there's always money going in and taking out from the purse and love is balance by disburse and sacrifices.

From the art work, we can know that if more and more money is fill into the purse, the further the couple will be push apart, at last the couple will end up with not kissing each other which means they breakup due to too much pressure. So, a balance is needed in LOVE, a relationship.

Cute cartoon displays on transportation.

Why Malaysia don't have this kind of transport display?

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=223377784437476&set=a.109142622527660.15648.100002957696312&type=1&theater

As we can see countries like Japan and Taiwan, they have such cute transportation displays. They not only apply these cute displays on their public transportation but also apply them as a theme in restaurants and hospitals. These cute displays like Pikachu, Doraemon, Hello Kitty and many more can't be seen in Malaysia because some of some stupid rules and regulations. I know they put these cartoon characters as their displays are for advertising the cartoon characters purposes, but we as Malaysian has our own cartoon characters too such as Upin dan Ipin and Kampung Boy. Maybe we can consider using the same method the foreigners used to promote our local cartoons in order for our younger generations to know our local cartoon production and extend the lifespan of these local cartoons so that our future generations still can enjoy it.
