Ipoh Heritage

Last Saturday I was at my home town, IPOH. I was there because I need to take some photos for photography assignment purpose. I decided to capture the heritage of IPOH because i really like the old buildings and the structure , the architecture design using abstract, column, geometry shape. These are the elements just like the theory that i learn in History of art.It really a amazing when i know that a simple shape line and column can create such beautiful structure. It bring a lots of idea and knowledge when I looking at this structure. I was impress with the architect who design this building.

This was 1 of the photo that i took during my little photography trip in ipoh town.

This is the side view of the building.
Above is a very old building that i found in IPOH town. This structure are design using repeat of column, lines and rectangle shape. i like the way which it is just a simple elements but it can created a nice building and it also eye catching.

This building is actually an old  restaurant since 1906 Dong Hua 东华. But the building it now is no long being use for business or any purpose. The building is now empty.

But I'm glad that this building was not being destroy although it doesn't have any usage purpose.I think that the government have listed this building as the protected building. It have being repaint and this have increase the appearance of the town.

If the world don't have colors....

What if the world we know is in black and white colors only? What if we can only see everything in grey tone? It's really a disaster for me if i don't see colors anymore in my life. I like colors a lot, especially those colorful paintings. People draw to express their feelings and mood, like they are describing their life and yet color is used as a medium to help make their life more meaningful.

Without colors, we will be living in a world full of sorrow. There won't be happiness and harmony around us.
I felt thankful to God as he has such power to create such a beautiful gift for us, human. Everything has its respective colors to represent themselves individually.

Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke, i like this anime a lot because it had a lot of surprising scenes. This anime is from Studio Ghibli ; it is a 1997 epic Japanese animated historical fantasy feature film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. 1 of the scene which i like the most is when the Boar god become evil, his body has many jelly-fluid-like black vines around. The black vines will make him unconscious and will take control over his mind.

The 1st time  i saw this scene, i get shocked because i have never see such "geli"(disgusting) scene. I had watched a lot of Hayao Miyazaki's animes, i like the way he creates his story with bizarre animations.

Since Malaysia have a lot of good animator, i wish that Malaysia can also create such amazing movie like this with full of cultural and traditional in it.

Emptiness

I saw a senior of mine post a video that talks about concept of designing. The author is Kenya Hara, he is a Japanese. His is discussing his book "Designing Design" in that video. His concept in "Designing Design" is emptiness, if there is an emptiness, it will be fill with GOD. It was the old theory of Japaneses culture.

Why he uses the theory of emptiness? He said that, questioning is creating an emptiness, when an emptiness was being create, something will fill into the emptiness. Therefore thinking is an important element in filling that emptiness. The deeper u think, the more you fill the emptiness. The deeper u sink your hand into the water, the more water will gain. Other then that, base on my understanding of his theory, he also mention that, if there is an emptiness only things can be filled into it. Which mean, if there is an emptiness, new idea can be fill in.

Designing is to something visually communicate, therefore if someone i sending a message, the other have to receive it. The emptiness is to receive the message. Kenya Hara have a very deep theory about his emptiness concept. The emptiness have a lot of function in designing, leaving a space in an layout is also a part of emptiness. Space is an emptiness.

In my opinion, emptiness can be something easy or it also can be something that is hard to achieve. To create a emptiness in design is easy. For me, to force ourselves to empty our mind and heart is difficult. Sometime is hard to erase what had already set in our mind, that is why new idea is hard to generate, this is because we already fix some rules in mind and it have become a threat to our creativity. We should give ourselves some space in thinking, so that our brain have space to generate, it won't be stuck.
